feeling it in her bones...

Posted Dec 02 2012 7:41pm
The Neupogen injections are going as well as can be expected.  Even thought the needle is tiny, Anna hates it, and says it is painful.  I'm not as squeamish as the first time I had to administer it, but it still makes me uncomfortable.  When we had to do finger pokes to get her amino acid levels, I used a lancet, so I never saw the needle enter her skin.  In this case, I can see it.  Needles don't bother me at all when I'm the one getting the injection, but I do not like giving them.

A unfortunate side effect of the Neupogen is bone pain. She was pretty miserable yesterday with lower back pain.  She used a heating pad and took some Tylenol (which, in my opinion, is useless), but neither really helped.  Thankfully it's a little bit better today.

This will all be worth it when her white blood cell count improves and she is no longer on what feels like house arrest.
