Health knowledge made personal
Bio
Iâ??m a 20-something foodie/yogi eating veggies & practicing yoga in the heart of the country where a meat & potatoes dinner is considered mandatory and yoga hippie.
I was born & raised in Iowa, but recently picked up and moved to South Dakota with my husband, Dillon, and pups, Kya & Kota.
There are two things I love (besides Dillon & the pups) in this world: food & yoga.
I havenâ??t always appreciated food. I was once a picky little eater who could point out the golden arches by age two and wouldnâ??t eat broccoli unless covered in melted cheese.
Now, Iâ??m conscious about what I eat and what goes into my body. I study ingredient labels closely and am an advocate of clean, natural and whole foods.
Iâ??ve been practicing yoga (Ashtanga, mainly) for a little more than 2 years, but am just now making it a priority. I have gone through many personal changes in the past year and yoga helps ground me. It calms my mind and strengthens my body.
I have started Downward Facing Foodie for a couple of reasons. First, I want to show others that you can maintain a healthy and social lifestyle. I want to prove that eating healthy does not mean eating boring, bland and weird food.
I am also using this space to hold me accountable for my goals. First and foremost, I am committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle through food & fitness.
