Apple just announced the iPad mini – a scaled down size-wise version of the iPad, which runs the same iPad apps. This is good news for medical users as this device is certainly more pocketable than the ten inch iPad and can easily fit in a labcoat pocket. In terms of size, it is still big enough to read journal articles in pdf format, ebooks and more. You can run the same iPad medical apps that you wish as they will scale nicely on the smaller display. If you have carried around an iPad for a day, the weight will get noticeable and the lighter iPad mini will be more welcome in this respect.journal
I previously would have recommended an iPod touch to medical students but after October 23, that recommendation has changed to an iPad mini!
