Premature Ejaculation is a condition that affects as many as 1 in 3 men around the world. Aside from being embarrassing, it’s an issue that if left unresolved can ruin relationships.
If you’re finding that you consistently ejaculate within two minutes of penetration during sex, you may be suffering from premature ejaculation (PE). It’s a condition that has a largely psychological element. Stress, anxiety and mood can all exacerbate the problem.
There are various treatment options available to anyone suffering from PE, including physical methods such as thicker condoms or mild anaesthetic creams to reduce the sensitivity of the penis. Counseling may also be appropriate if your PE is linked to your relationship or other emotional factors.
Many men find certain behavioural techniques very effective in treating PE.
The “squeeze method” works by squeezing your penis with a thumb and forefinger just where the head joins the shaft, as soon as you feel the urge to ejaculate.Maintain pressure until the urge to ejaculate passes, wait 30 seconds or so and then resume foreplay. You may find that your penis becomes less erect during this period, don’t worry this is normal and you should be able to quickly regain a full erection.
With practice the squeeze method should allow you to recognise the urge to ejaculate approaching and be able to avoid it without squeezing.
Alternatively, many men practice the “stop-start method”. By stopping or slowing sex when the urge to ejaculate approaches, you should be able to control the impulse. Try changing position to alter the stimulation – this can help avoid PE.
Practicing the “stop-start method” when masturbating can also help. Masturbate to the point of ejaculation and then stop. Doing this three or four times before allowing yourself to ejaculate, will help to build control.
In some severe cases where none of the above techniques have worked, there is a medicine, Priligy, which can be prescribed by a doctor. Used in conjunction with other methods, Priligy is an effective treatment for premature ejaculation .
Avoid aggressive or wild angry sex. When you lose control of your erection, that’s when you’d lose the erection completely. Try to indulge in calm, slow and romantic sex. By avoiding fast and aggressive sex, you’d be able to last longer because you won’t experience a sudden burst of sexual energy in an instant.
