Need a free medical translator in your clinic? #iOS

Posted Oct 18 2013 6:11pm

If you work in a multi-lingual medical environment like I do, having a good translator with you all the time is a boon. There are quite a few apps on the market but lately there’s one for iOS called Voice Translator – On the Fly Translation which does the job well. Not quite as perfect as Star Trek’s Universal Translator but pretty close.

The conversation mode is quite intuitive. Just select the language pair and when you tap on the speech bubble, the app recognises the speech and automatically translates it to the paired language. If you tap on the recognised text, you can edit, SMS or even email it. I don’t know if it is smart enough to learn from corrections but when I tried correcting the recognised speech with an edit, it seemed not to make the same mistake.

Voice Translator is currently FREE on the Apple App Store (regular price $2.99). Grab it now .
