Let’s face it: Many parents love to spoil their children during the holiday season. They love to make cookies with their kids, read holiday stories from when they were young and shop for the perfect gifts that make their little ones’ eyes pop with wonder and surprise.
Unfortunately thousands of children don’t get to experience the joy of the holiday season. For whatever reason it might be, these kids don’t have the opportunity to hold a gift with excited anticipation and peel off a layer of wrapping paper to reveal a new toy.
For more than 60 years, the Toys for Tots Program has been collecting new, unwrapped toys during the holiday season to give as Christmas gifts to needy children in the local communities where the gifts are collected. These gifts offer a message of hope, kindness and love for children who are less fortunate than the rest of us. Of course, giving a gift can be an equally meaningful experience as receiving one, and community members who have some change to spare this holiday season are encouraged to donate to Toys for Tots.
Those who give time, money or support to others are more likely to be happy and satisfied with their lives and are less likely to be depressed. Given that the holiday season is about spreading holiday joy, give yourself the gift of health by giving a child the gift of Christmas.
The Specific Chiropractic Center is participating in Toys for Tots this year, and we’ll be collecting new, unwrapped toys throughout the coming weeks to donate to kids in need who live in our neighborhood for the holidays. During the month of December, we will be offering all new patient exams, including x-rays, in exchange for the brand new, unwrapped toy.
Every child deserves a gift this holiday. Help us make a child’s holiday special. Help us give a little hope.
