Epocrates for #iOS updated

Posted Oct 26 2011 7:20pm

After the recent iOS5 release, there’s been a flood of app updates in the App Store. You might have noticed Epocrates for iOS has undergone a major update. The update is backwards compatible with iOS versions 3.0 onwards unlike some app updates which are iOS 5 only (which I find quite annoying for those of us not ready to update yet) . I found that I had to re-login into my account after the update – no big deal but better get it handy in case you have forgotten what it is. Then I was pleasantly surprised to find the beautiful new interface (screen shot below). The Docalerts are unobtrusively displayed at the bottom of the page. Swiping left and right takes you to the different screen pages. Otherwise the content is essentially the same as the earlier version as far as I can tell.

Here are the updates as stated by Epocrates in their iTunes page:

- A smart new user experience design
- Icon-centric customizable Epocrates homepage, with quicker access to drug & disease resources
- Extensive medical App Directory
- Integrated features and additional resources within drug monographs
- Citations, in-line images, and evidence codes within disease monographs
- Notifications: clinical news DocAlerts and other messages from Epocrates
- Ability to add most-frequented calculators or monographs to Favorites
- Feedback icon to contact Epocrates with your thoughts
- On-device tutorial videos
