I have very recently been diagnosed with Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia

Posted by paulette owens

This is an very rare form of leukemia - approx 1500 new cases reported yearly.

Would like to know what I can expect as far as how rapidly the disease progresses, success rate of treatment and if anyone knows of any support groups available.

I did a little research on this and it is my understanding that this disease can cause liver damage and vision loss.  I am particularly concerned about the potential vision loss because of my already compromised vision due to an incurable inherited eye disease - Macular Degeneration.

Any response would be greatly appreciated.
