Health knowledge made personal
Birthday: June 28
I am an adjunct college professor of English, freelance writer, wife, and the mother of three girls ages 15,11, and 6. We homeschool during the day while I write on the computer, and on warm evenings, we ride bikes together to the beach with our two labradors. We love camping, hikes in the woods, and swimming in the ocean.
My youngest daughter Christina who has Trisomy 21, known as Down syndrome, enjoys all these activities with us. I write about raising a child with Trisomy 21 at my blog Cause of Our Joy, and her birth story, "A Special Mother is Born" has been feautered in several family magazines, and will be the highlight of my upcoming book which is a compendium of such inspiring stories from special needs mothers. I have been interviewed on Relevant Radio about my work advocating for children with Trisomy 21.
