Health knowledge made personal
On January 6th 2008, my teenage daughter, Jessica, became ill with what that week was diagnosed as mono, but still sick 5 months later, she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Her symptoms have included: sore throats, headaches, extreme fatigue, lack of focus, short-term memory difficulties, weakness, tiredness (feeling worn out), difficulty breathing, tight and sore legs... In Jessica's words: "Imagine lying lifelessly there in bed, and not being able to move because you have no energy what-so-ever. Not only does your body feel like a pile of noodles, but your throat is on fire, and it feels like someone has taken a frying pan and cracked you on the head with it."
We struggled through school - being completely homebound in the spring of 2008 and the fall of 2009, and only doing half a day's classes in the spring of 2009.
Now, 16 years old and a Junior in high school and making it to a whole day's classes this year (spring 2009), she is doing much better, and we're praying it continues this way.
