I am 40, and will turn 41 in February. My husband and I met later in life and very much want to have a child or children of our own. I have delivered two babies with different trisomies who both passed away in the last two years. Our first baby was born in April of 2008, at 25 weeks 5 days gestation, premature, and lived only two hours. She was diagnosed by Amnio with Downs Syndrome (trisomy 21) and by songram, then in utero MRI with severe early onset hydrocephalus, which is what eventually took her from us. We had been told fairly early on that she was missing large portions of her brain and brainstem, and couldnt live. Our second child was born in September of 2009 full term, stillborn. She had been diagnosed as Edwards Syndrome ( trisomy 18) by Amnio. She had a severe heart issue and very immature lungs. Back in my 20's (1st marriage) I had three early first trimester miscarriages. We are now seeing fertility specialists for Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnostic testing(PGD) for Aneuploidy and IVF treatments. We expect our first IVF transfer to be in Late January or early February of 2010. We very much hope to have a healthy baby or babies to raise.
