Hemodialysis usually does not have any effect on blood glucose. Peritoneal Dialysis may, however cause an elevation in blood glucose levels if you are using dianeal solution which is basically dextrose solution. PD with Extraneal fluid can be used to avoid this.

hemodiaylsis can affect your glucose level .so many people in hemodialysis may develope hypoglycemia during hemodialysis even those patients have no DM.SO THE MAIN cause is loss of glucose through the artificial kidney because the level of glucose in hemodialysis soluation is too low than in PD soluation .
