Potassium is my bane. My dietician called me this afternoon to tell me that my lab results from last night showed my potassium was up around 7 ... well, that's roughly twice what it ought to be. She questioned me about what I'd been eating, and it was probably just a variety of medium potassium foods all in one day ... like strawberries on my cereal at night, half a grapefruit for breakfast, a plum for lunch, a handful of M&Ms ...
And I thought I had been doing so well this month. Which just goes to highlight what is so frustrating with this diet. I guess it's back to the applesauce and celery every meal. I exaggerate.
I'll have to ask her ... is there some kind of food I can eat that can keep me from being hungry but essentially doesn't have anything in it? At least, no potassium or phosphorus? Basically I'm about 5'4" and weigh about 116 lbs. So it's not like I really want or need to lose weight. But I get hungry between meals.
I sympathize with the medical people, I really do. People lie about what they eat. Or they don't remember. It's why most health studies relating to diet are so unreliable. I know what I SHOULD be eating, I just don't adhere to it perfectly all the time. I give in to my cravings. But apparently my body is not as forgiving as I thought it was.
And now you know that I don't always follow my own recommendations in this blog. It's very easy to overdo it, as you know.
