It's probably not your kidneys aching.  There are very few symptoms of kidney failure until you reach the end stage.  Don't wait go to the doctor and get a cretin test - they can see if they are functioning properly. 

 My husband was just diagnosed with endstage kidney disease and up until the very end stage there were no real symptoms.
