I underwent the first step in being placed on the transplant list on Monday with an echo cardiogram. Instead of pictures of a baby in my tummy, this takes images of the heart in my chest using ultra sound. The test took most of an hour and consisted of a technician putting slippery goo on my chest and poking me with a stick attached to a computer. She was very reserved and didn't blurt out "wow I never saw one like that before!" even once.
I wont get any results for some time as the test has to be reviewed along with some more tests in 2 weeks to measure the heart's response to stress, by a team of transplant doctors. If all is well, I will undergo more tests for the transplant, if not, they cut off the process at that point. Stay tuned.
