All;s Quiet on the Northern Front

Posted Oct 14 2008 4:07am
I’ve been a bad boy. It’s been weeks since my last posting and I have no excuse really except I was thinking that nothing was happening worth writing about.

I had my quarterly in-depth blood tests and, happy to say, continue to be the poster boy for home hemodialysis. Everything is within the proper range except for my hemoglobin which was a bit high. An adjustment to my EPO dose should take care of that.

My stomach problems have subsided and I am eating whatever I want, but to try and drop some weight, have stuck to a few cans of Glucerna instead of some meals each day. Overall I am down about 17 pounds since summer.

The improvement to my gastric troubles also has resulted in better sleeps and generally a much better attitude to life. Hope it keeps up. I go for my endoscopy in 2 weeks.

There hasn’t been much of interest in the dialysis news to report on.

My mom arrives today for a short visit over the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend. Susan is trying to make the place look nice (and clean) because she thinks my mother will think less of her if she sees how we really live. I gave up worrying about it 30 years ago when I say mom putting her leftover dinner plate on the floor for our dog to lick.

I’ll be making the traditional turkey with all the fixings for Monday night. Yum!
