Personal Legend

Posted Sep 24 2012 11:40am

Life is growth.  If we stop growing, technically and spiritually, we are as good as dead.  The Art of Peace is a celebration of the binding of heaven, earth, and humankind.  It is all that is true, good, and beautiful.

Heaven is right where you are standing, and that is the place to train.

- Morihei Ueshiba

Victories lie on the quest to prepare for battle.  65 days without alcohol. 15 pounds of lost weight. 5 hard days a week of training.  I arrived at the mat with a pure mind and transformed body.  A holistic victory.

This was to be a toe to toe battle. There was no running or chasing. Only combat.

Multiple hard right hands were landed.

Timber backing up his opponent, again.

A height disadvantage simply means one has to adjust their aim.

Connecting with another leg kick.

My cornermen Matt Lindland and Cody Isaacson of Team Quest look on. They did a great job and I was well prepared for the fight.

Unfortunately the judges saw it differently and my left hand wasn’t raised at the conclusion of the bout.

After reviewing the 1st and 2nd rounds our opinion was that the bout should have been over, with me winning, and not have gone to a third “sudden death” round. I had spent myself in the first two rounds thinking I had won.  I was wrong.  Life isn’t fair.  If life was fair I probably wouldn’t be a fighter. I can say that after this night.  My name is Tim Brink, and I am a fighter.

I have pursued my personal legend. I have won.
