Get Down With Your Bad Self!

Posted Nov 12 2007 12:00am

Disco Noel

It’s your day, shining day, all
your dreams come true
As you glide, in your stride with the wind, as you fly away
give a smile, from your lips, and say
I am free, yes I’m free, now I’m on my way
-earth wind & fire

Wow, Christmas is coming quickly! Of course it can get pretty confusing when shops start putting out their holiday goodies in September. It takes me back to one late August night in Puerto Rico when I was in dyer need of a few human maintenance supplies. Walking out of the tropical night into an air conditioned “Walgreen’s” type place, I was shocked by rows of Christmas goodies. I felt like breaking into a chorus of “Meli Kalikimaka” even if I was on the wrong island.

freya blurOf course in the immortal words of Marvin Gaye, “What’s goin on” round here are a few great expeditions and some fun new gift ideas. We’ll talk about the gift ideas tomorrow. Today I just want to say “Get down with your bad self!” to Freya Hoffmeister who has been taking on New Zealand in style recently. Certainly that surf is big enough to put the willies in anyone. Say what you will, she one bad a** lady. If you’ve not been watching her blog, I’d encourage you to do so.

justine blurMeanwhile Justine Curgenven has posted that she and Barry have their tickets and are ready to go to New Zealand as well. Did she really say North Face is chucking in £2,000??!! Wow! (You know, I’ve always liked North Face. . . . . LOL!!!) She also mentioned subtly something called “This Is The Sea 4″ in her last blog post. So if you wondered if there would be another in the series, now you know. Wow, she almost slipped that one right by us!

Simon Osborn is as far as I know, on the water now in Madagascar. So they are off to the races as well.

One thing is sure, all these southern sea kayak expeditions are putting a whole new twist on the idea of a “Blue Christmas”. Now, where’d I put my shiny gold chain . .?
