My husband has early onset Alzheimer's Disease, and I am his caretaker as well as his biggest fan.  In June we will have been married for 30 years, and we dated for 5 years before that, so he has been in my life since I was 18 years old.  We had two children, Shelley and Andrew, and Andrew passed away in June of 2007 from an accidental overdose.  Shelley recently married her sweetheart who is also named Andrew, and I know that is not coincidental.  I am pleased to find other spouses of early onset AD patients.  As I've joined support groups and searched for resources, I am well aware that the typical "face" of AD is much older, but I also read about many younger people with AD.  All caretakers share many of the same issues, but because of our age, I am a long way from retiring.  I am unable to care for Billy during the day, and he attends a wonderful adult daycare center.
