Health knowledge made personal
Birthday: September 9
I went suddenly deaf in 1975 at age 4 of unexplained causes. I wore a hearing aid in my one "good" ear for just over 30 years, and then within the space of about a year year I lost all my remaining hearing. In November of 2007 I implanted my right ear and in August of 2008 I implanted my left ear. My speech comprehension scores have jumped from 8% before the implant to 98% after, so I consider myself a resounding success story.
I am a mother to five children-a son and four daughters. In my spare time I love advocating for deaf/hard of hearing and cochlear implantation issues. I also love cooking, reading, traveling, and, all manner of computer activities.
