Living with narcolepsy

Posted Aug 12 2008 4:21pm 1 Comment

The onset of narcolepsy for most folks is in the teen age years. Mine started when I was six years old. i would fall asleep while walking down the street with my two older sisters holding my hands. I got left back in the first grade, for, among other things, falling asleep in class. Amazingly, I did well in school, particularly if the subject held my attention, in which case I could often stay awake.

My narcolepsy was diagnosed at age 25. Lucky for me, I had a doctor who actually had treated someone for narcolepsy and knew what to looK for, and what questions to ask. I have had my narcolepsy now for many years and would like to be of help to anyone else who has it, or thinks they may have it.
