is it safe to take 25mg for insomnia?

i haven't been perscribed it but my mother has and one of it's off label uses is for insomnia which i've suffered with for many years, so i took a quarter of a 100mg tablet lastnight and had a lovley sleep, but seeing as it's officially an antipyschosis pill i'm wondering if it's safe to take regularly to help me sleep
