Who’s Positive to Ask FDA to Approve OraSure Technologies
Over-The-Counter Rapid Home-Use HIV Test

logo(Charlottesville, Virginia) Who’s Positive, a national HIV/AIDS Awareness organization is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 Tom Donohue, Founding Director for Who’s Positive will once again address the Blood Products Advisory Committee in support of OraSure Technologies OraQuick ADVANCE Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody take home Test.  This will be his fourth appearance urging the committee to move forward with approving the OTC Rapid home-use HIV test kit.

“It’s Time.”  says, Tom Donohue, Founding Director for Who’s Positive, “In order to become the generation which ends AIDS we have to move progressively towards new technology that will put  additional tools in the hands of those who seek to know their HIV-status.  I feel OraSure Technologies has responsibility addressed areas of concern from counseling to linkage to care and even partner notification.  This is a new tool in our fight against HIV/AIDS, this tool will help empower so many more people who find speaking face to face with a counselor a barrier from getting tested.”

At this meeting Who’s Positive will also release a report to BPAC of a year-long survey asking whether or not individuals would support such a test.

About BPAC
