The Nata branch of the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa held a sponsored 10km walk to raise money for their church building. Mr. Tiro donated P4300 to purchase rafters for the building so he was asked to lead the walk. Pastor Pono Gakekgonwe is well loved by everyone associated with this website as he takes every opportunity to talk to his congregation about HIV/AIDS. Pastor Pono often has clinic staff meet with his congregation to talk about modes of transmission and allows very frank conversations. We applaud him for being so open with his parishioners about the virus. At the conclusion of the 10km walk, we had a ceremony at the Kgotla. Mabogo provided the entertainment, Mr. Tiro gave a wonderful speech, a raffle was held, soccer balls were donated to the youth, and Melody was asked to talk about HIV/AIDS and discuss the website. We explained how funds are raised through the website and showed the shirts that were purchased for Ntwakgolo support group. At the conclusion of the program, Pastor Pono threw oranges and candy to all of the walkers. Congratulations on a successful event and a great day.
