Statement by Rebecca Haag, President & CEO of AIDS Action Committee on

Posted Jun 10 2011 4:01pm remains a medically-accurate and science-based source of information for teens about matters related to sexual health. The content changes to the site made today were minimal and no sections were deleted.  Most of the changes made just repeated information already on the site in another section. Some content was enhanced and we added some referral links, making it easier to navigate from one section to another.  We also added more descriptive language to the sections of the site dealing with reproductive health.

Maria is still talking to young teens about sexual health and all of the options available to them.  The new version reflects input from reproductive health experts, youth experts as well as medical professionals. We think these changes improve the site and we encourage people to visit to see for themselves.
We thank the Patrick Administration and many legislative allies for their continued support of and for recognizing—and acting upon—the importance of making accurate, evidence-based sexuality education available to young people, who without this information are more vulnerable to unintended pregnancies as well as HIV infection and other sexually-transmitted diseases.
