Nata website is a semi-finalist in the Peace Corps ICT contest! Originally uploaded by natavillage.
Peace Corps along with the National Peace Corps Association has just announced that the Nata Village Blog is a semi-finalist in their first ever Information, Communication, and Technology contest. In January of this year, Melody submitted a story explaining how the website was started (see about the Nata Blog) and how the Nata AIDS and Orphan Trust was formed to manage donations from the website. The above photo shows two of Nata's youth participating in an HIV educational program utilizing the sound system purchased from website donations. Twenty-three entries were received from 18 countries and we are happy to be a part of the 9 semi-finalists. They will be announcing the top two finishers at the end of this month. We've also been contacted by Worldview Magazine for a possible article about the website in their winter issue. The stories of the semi-finalists and winners will be featured in Peace Corps internal and external publications. This type of publicity could do wonders for our people living with AIDS and the Nata orphans. We appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this contest and want to offer congratulations to the other 8 volunteers who are using technology to make a difference in the lives of people in the developing world.
