
Topical applications: Emollient, menthol in calamine lotion can be used.
Skin Hydration is important and is maintained by the twice daily application of skin moisturizing creams (examples include Keri®, Lubriderm®, Nivea®, Nutraderm®, and Eucerin®).
Less expensive moisturizers include generic forms of Johnson and Johnson’s Baby Lotion® (which is actually more of a cream) available at discount retailers.
Vegetable shortening (such as Crisco®) is another good, inexpensive moisturizers.
But you need to talk to doctor for any prescription medicine.

I am having hiv infection since 7 years. now my cd4 count is 55. now i m having generalised pruritis. i am not having any primary skin conditions (like psoriasis, eczema,scabies etc..) now my physician has prescribed anti-histaminics but it is not relieving. my lft are normal(s.bilirubin is total of 0.8) my hb is 10.2gm/dl i m feeling well with 3rd month course of HAART which consist of ZIDOVUDIN, LAMIVUDINE, NEVIRAPINE. Will u please tell me good mediction for generalised pruritis
