In the afternoon we all came back for an educational program by Mabogo. We used this as an opportunity to give away some of the clothes and shoes donated by Flamingo School. The kids raised their hands and answered questions about HIV and then were able to pick out something from the donations. Unfortunately, it started to rain and so we ended up just giving out the rest of the items. It was a shock to see the desperation in the kids faces and the giveaway nearly turned into a riot. We tried to give the things away in an orderly fashion but the kids just kept pushing a shoving just trying to get a piece of used clothing. It confirmed what we already knew. The poverty here is crushing.
