Go Take A Hike

Posted by Julia P.

I have the wonderful advantage of living in a place that is not just beautiful, but covered in hiking trails. I live in Colorado! When I first moved to Colorado I had never done any hiking, at least not real hiking. I soon discovered the amazing fitness benefits of hiking. I never really feel like I’m working out when I’m on a hike, but that is exactly what it is, a workout! I get lost in the beautiful views and the quiet of the mountains, and I totally forget that I have spent 2 or 3 hours pushing my legs to their limit. Hiking has also been a wonderful way for us to reconnect as a family, out in the middle of nowhere, where there are no electronic escapes! We all have our different sports and hobbies and tend to be going a thousand different directions at the same time; but hiking is one activity we can do as a family that promotes our health, as a family, as well as providing an example of living a healthy active adult life.

I've never been to Colorado, but would love to make it out for a snowboarding trip someday. I live in the Bay Area, CA and love all the options for hiking. Crystal Springs is one of my favorites because just a short 15 minute drive and you are surrounded by Redwood trees. Hiking is not only a good workout, but a great stress reliever!
