Hey Harleygirl101, it sounds like you have a lot going on!
Irregular heartbeats can be from dozens of reasons. It is not uncommon for irregular heartbeats to show up during pregnancy (and at menopause) because your hormones can affect them.
Most irregular heartbeats are harmless. Medication like Metoprolol can help to control them and some are more serious and require different treatments.
You mentioned you had ventricular fibrillation. Could you mean "atrial" fibrillation? Ventricular fibrillation occurs when the heart essentially has no heartbeat and you have no pulse. You would be unconcious.
When your heart "beats", the top part of your heart sends an electrical impulse to the bottom part telling it to pump blood. Sometimes the top part of the heart misfires by sending the elctrical impulse in an irregular pattern. The bottom part of the heart picks up some of the elctrical messages, but it's not in a regular pattern, so you have an irregular heartbeat.
You can have episodes of Atrial fibrillation or that can be your rhythm all the time.
If you do have atrial fibrillation, it would be important to see if there is a problem with the blood supply to your heart. If the blood supply is not good to the area of the heart that makes the electrical impulse, that could be a cause.
In any case, if you are diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, your doctor may want you to take a medicine to prevent clots from forming. (when the top part of the heart beats irregularly, the blood can stay there and form clots.) This is a medication you take every day.
I would recommend you go back to your doctor and find out what you have and treat it properly to avoid other problems.
Good luck and let me know what happens!

Okay , I think this the problem that I have with my heart. My symptoms of course did not start until I was preganat with my first child. I have been to the heart doctor he put me on metroprolol er ro control my irregular heart beat. Before I was prescribed this medicine I wore a heart monitor for three days and it revealed my heart rate. I also went through a battery of test such as stress test, pictures of my heart was also taken but of course my Dr. could not tell for sure if it was breast tissue or my heart. He wanted to a ctherization of course I do not want to because I have had love ones that have had this test done and it was too painful. I wonder if ventricular fibrillation is heretary ?for my mother has the irregular heartbeat and now both of children experience it from time to time. Will a catherization reveal my problem? What should I do ? I haven't been back to my heart dr. in three to five years now! I know!!!
