I am 66 years of age and have had unstable blood pressure since I was 50 after having a cholesterol reading of 9.6. Apart from a few years prior to this I have always lead an active live.
I have always sufferred with side effects of medication mainly swollen ankles, feet and legs. Last year whilst in America I had enough. I was unable to walk far, put on any shoes in the evening, and walking was like wearing two concrete boots. At that time I was on a beta blocker, blood pressure table 40mg and a 2.5 water tablet and still had unstable blood pressure.
When I came back I did some research on the internet. I went to my doctor and he agreed to cut out the beta blocker, the water tablet as this was affecting the sodium level and cut my 20mg of Olmetec to to 10mg. The result is I now take a 30mg Coenzyme Q10 at breakfast, a 500mg L'arginine and a Ginseng table at lunch, and my 10mg Olmetec at tea time.
I feel much better and have a more consistent reading with my blood pressure however, it is still eratic.
For examaple, yesterday I went to the local swmimming pool in the afternoon. I thought I'd take my blood pressure before going for my check at the doctors. It was 148/43. When I went to the doctors, I sat down, he told me to relax, drop my shoulders, and leave my arm relaxed. I couldn't breath fully and my blood pressure was 155/101. The second
reading was 145/94. At 8.0pm that night it was 150/76 but sitting upright and not relaxed.
Today soon after breakfast, I walked up and down a 12 flight of stairs and took my blood pressure straight away. It was 150/76.
The point I want to make about the link between the Pectus Excavatam is that if I'm relaxed siting in a chair or after a meal I find it difficult to breath properly e.g. take normal breaths - I usually only take shallow breaths. This is when my blood pressure is alway high.
In my younger days I was on shift work and I've seem to have acquired an active acid stomach. This also pushes my blood pressure up and I since found that having two teaspoon of cider vinegar - ordinary will do if you haven'g got any but its much harsher - mix with a glass of water and I take after my lunch. This usually carries my forward 24 hours unless I don't eat at regular times. The answer to this is to carry a cracker or something similar to mob up that excess acid. So far all thes things have worked for me
I would be grateful for experts comments and recommendations so that my lifestyle can be more manageable convertable in my latter years.
