New Study Shows Walking Faster Could Lower Heart Attack Risk

Posted Nov 30 2009 12:00am

A new European study has recently reported a lower risk of death from heart attack or stroke in elderly patients who could walk fast. The study was performed by asking patients aged 65 or older to walk as fast as they could for nearly 20 feet. Those who could walk the fastest were less likely to die from a cardiovascular event in 5 years. The ones who walked the slowest were 3 times more likely to die from a heart attack or stroke within 5 years.

What does this mean for heart disease patients? It means that you need to exercise and stay as active as possible! The more active you are, the better your chances of staying fit from head-to-heart-to-toe! So get out there for a daily walk and keep up the pace!
