heart problem from birth

my frnd has a heart problem frm birth.. his left artery doesnt not function well from birth.. n he got operated for hole in his heart 2 months ago.. he is 19 yr old... he keeps telling he wont live long.. is there a cure n how long do ppl with such problems survive with proper treatment....
