Good news from the right heart cathertization today! my pressures in my arteries and heart are normal! weeeeee! so glad that test is over. if i never have another catheter sent through the vein in my neck while i lie awake on a cold steel table i would NOT be sad. I am still sore in the jugular area but it’s not so bad.
exhausting day today, i went down for the test at 8 am and after that it was a constant stream of doctors and interviews for the heart transplant eval.
so, here i am and it seems my day has just ended. i am so so tired.
on the menu for tomorrow? a muscle test, called an EMG. not pleasant. it is a test to see what is up with my legs and why they hurt ALL THE TIME. this is how the test goes down:
the technician has these long needles that they stick all the way into each muscle in your body. yup, from your neck muscles, to your arm muscles, legs, and groin (that’s the worst). once these long needles are in, the technician begins what i like to call “torture”. they send shocks through the needle and your muscle twitches. this is to see your muscle reflex and the response time. the test also measures if your muscles are deteriorating, if there is nerve involvement, etc.. once the shocks begin each muscle gets tested. first, one twitch. then, a series of fast twitches like a machine gun; it is the oddest feeling. i am definitely anxious for this test even though i have had it before. let’s see if we get some answers.
also on the menu: lung function test. this one’s a piece of cake. they put you in a bubble and you breathe through tubes to measure your lung capacity. i don’t mind that one so much.
after that? the rumor is i can go home! please please let that happen! i need my own bed!!
I noticed that i have lots of emails (via my busy blackberry) and i haven’t gotten to open up my inbox yet. all i can say at this point is thank you everyone! i can feel your positive vibes and it’s the best feeling to know that i have unbelievable support. i’m sending the love right back to you. it makes such a difference and it keeps me going strong.
