Lily has been doing a lot of tree climbing lately. I would say we are not "tree climbers" normally. We've been accused of being "tree huggers" before, but even this label is not totally accurate.
Tonight we went for ice cream and then a walk around the beautiful Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. We were talking about all the trees and how they felt, and encouraged Lily to touch the bark and leaves. We also asked her if she could get her arms around the trunks, which quickly illustrated that some trees were much bigger than others. "The perfect tree" for Lily was one she could stand under and wrap her arms around.
At one point, a guy with a dog, came walking past us and told us how happy he was to see a kid climbing a tree and being exposed to nature. He said something "Kai Lan-esque" like it makes my heart super happy. Is that lame I hear other people though a Ni Hao, Kai Lan lens? Need to diversify our limited TV viewing habits.
