Stubborn. That's what Riley's teacher said today. And that made me feel better about school as weird as that may sound. It means she is smart and learning and can do the work ... she just doesn't want to sometimes. As long as the teacher is standing near, Riley does her work and gets it right, but as soon as the teacher moves away, Riley loses focus or just stops working. She also says taking things away from Riley does no good – she's right about that.
Even though C's are not her best effort, I guess I need to chill right now. Frustrating as that is. But the most important thing is that she is learning and that she can do it. The teacher is very open to suggestions, has a great system, is very organized and challenges Riley, which is probably one reason Riley is resisting. ;-)
Anyway, I feel much better now. We'll just keep working hard and try to help her understand that she needs to focus and get her work done.
