My three started religious school this past Sunday. It was the first time for the boys. They were apprehensive about all of it since they have never met the teachers and didn't know what to expect. There was a lengthy introduction, a mini sermon and a few songs (Peas tried to sing along despite the fact they were in Hebrew and he didn't know them) and then the kids all went to their classrooms.
They had a GREAT time. Peas proclaimed: "I loooooove Sunday school. I want to go every day, not just Sunday!" We were thrilled, of course.
On the way to the first day lunch, our Rabbi had a small shofar for the kids to try (with alcohol wipes in between each kid, of course) and both of the boys took a stab at it. Cam's try didn't produce a noise but Peas got just the sightest squeak out of it and his EYES lit up. He could HEAR the sound of the shofar. It is a mitzvah to HEAR the sound of the shofar.
