So, I went to Reno on Oct 11th to see REBA in concert. This was a special concert for 4 reasons. One - First concert with my new ears Two - First concert with INTERPRETERS! Three - Special Tour with Reba and Kelly Clarkson - Two Worlds, Two Voices tour Four - It's REBA!
The concert was AMAZING. I was given the T-loop. Man, it worked like a charm. I was close to the stage. Melissa Peterman, who played Barbra Jean on Reba show, was the opening act. She was pretty funny. I was able to understand her quite a bit. Reba and Kelly went on, and of course they did phenomenal. I had to hold back some of my tears because I could not believe that I was able to finally understand her very clearly without struggling or straining to hear. I have been to her concerts 7 times within the past 17 years. I would have gone to more, but at all the concerts I end up going home disappointed because I could not understand what she was saying or what she was singing...even if it was my favorite song. The background music would be terrible and jumbled up Reba's vocals. Only one concert that I actually enjoyed...only because I was front row for once. I'm hoping that next year, Reba will come to Las Vegas. Even though I went by myself to Reno, I had the best time seeing Reba ever.
Hopefully if she gets to Las Vegas, I can finally meet her for once! I have not yet met her in 17 years. Damn it, I deserve my time! :-)
Classes are going well - lots of projects, no tests. Thank goodness. I got A's in both of my classes last quarter.
One of my classes this quarter is Speech and Communication class (basically you stand up in front of the class and speak). For my first speech, we had to talk about someone who has inspired your life/life changing/ etc. So, instead of picking Reba McEntire, I decided to talk about Dr. Sujana Chandrasekhar and Lisa Bell. In other words, I will talk about my surgeon and Audiologist as a collabrative effort to gain my ears back.
That's pretty much it! I probably will need to get another tweak in my map on my right. There has been some days where it sounds TERRIBLE, and days where it would sound a bit too quiet. I'm not sure why though, but there's just something funky going on. My current audie also turned off the sensitivity adjustment ability, so I kind of need that back a bit.
