(NL-0016) Cochlear Implant Install - Surgery Date is Here !

My CI surgery date is here !

Fun facts - 
  • I don't have to worry about my head hair being shaved off before surgery. I have not a strand of hair on my head anyway!
  • I removed the right ear support on my glasses.  It looks to me, from other post-op photos I've seen, that I won't be able to wear them with all the bandages. I can't see 8 inches without my glasses, and since I can't hear, I have to lip read.
  • I bought a nifty lap-top side table that allows me to type in my bed. So updates will follow as soon as I can think well enough to coordinate my fingers with my brain !
  • With all the pre-registration issues I had, I think I'm going to make a sign to hang around my neck that says "I'm not really in a coma, I'm just deaf. Check for dilated pupils first!"
I expect the recovery room conversation will go something like this:



Through the magic of "type now, post later", this post is being distributed about the same time that I'm in surgery and having my new CI installed. (as I type this, it's really 11:15 PM the night before.... but if you won't tell, I won't either!).
