(NL-0014) I Demand A Second Opinion !!! Pre-CI Surgery Jitters
Posted Mar 14 2009 12:00am
My Cochlear Implant Surgery is scheduled one week from today. I've been reading/scanning other blogs, but not much there concerning experiences with CI pre-operative jitters. I hoping other folks with CIs might post some comments concerning this topic. I'm having small amounts of presurgical concerns, but I think this is probably normal for most people.
When I was much younger, I worked at the University Hospital of Augusta, GA in the Radiology Engineering Group. I've been in lots of operating rooms while patients were on the table and I've never been squeamish about things like that. Never bothered me at all. And although I really want to have the CI and I am looking forward to improving my hearing, I think the below is a good indication my slight pre-CI jitter thinking .... and I know the last panel is all too reflective of Roxanne's thinking!

This cartoon is so dang funny to me because my wife, Roxanne, is an MD. I can't possibly imagine her saying something like this to anyone but me! So, I guess if I know what's good for me, I'll have to listen to "Honeybunch" and take her second opinion.
In the meantime, for pending and post surgery CI folks, please post your experience with the pre-op-jitters in the comments section. I'll compile the best into a new post in a few days.
