More training needed for deaf coaches, says NDCS

Posted Aug 18 2011 2:18pm

National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) is calling for more football organisations to run FA-accredited coaching courses that are accessible to deaf people, as the charity currently runs the only one in the UK.

There is currently a severe shortage of opportunities for deaf children to get involved in football, even though with just a few simple steps it can be made accessible – training more coaches who are deaf is a great way to helping to break down barriers for deaf children.

Clubs from Newcastle to Maidstone and Cardiff have signed the NDCS's pledge and are currently busy training deaf youngsters.

Find out how you can get involved, either through playing or coaching, here.
