As Cllr Mrs Marie Males comes to the end of her term of office, she presented a cheque for £10,000.00 to The Ear Foundation , which has been her chosen ‘Charity of the Year’ during her year in office as Mayor of Rushcliffe Borough Council in Nottingham.
Attending the event were children with cochlear implants who have been helped by the many fundraising activities hosted by the Mayor in the past 12 months. The cheque was presented to the charity’s Chief Executive, Dr Sue Archbold and Chairman, John Atkins.
Sue Archbold says: “Cllr Males has been an avid supporter and has hosted numerous events, from a Caribbean Evening and Chinese Buffet Lunch, to charity concerts, coffee mornings and dinners. She has attended many of our social events, meeting deaf children and adults, meeting those our charity supports. We are so grateful for such an amazing donation, but also particularly for her personal interest and commitment to our work”.
Cllr Males initially became involved with The Ear Foundation 20 years ago, when she was a member of the board of the Special Trustees at Queen’s Medical Centre and over the years has seen how the charity has grown and developed, now transforming the lives of deaf children and adults, locally, nationally and internationally.
Cllr Males has kindly agreed to become a Patron of The Ear Foundation, continuing her tremendous support into the future.
