Riley has a new love: Huntsville Havoc hockey. Ryan has season tickets because Goose Pond is a sponsor at the rink, so he takes her when he can. We also use it as a reward for a good week of behavior.
Riley loves to watch the guys skate out onto the ice for warmups then watch the starters skate out of the big inflatable wolf head during introductions. She gets a big kick out of the mascots, Chaos and Rukus. But her favorite thing to do is run around the arena with the Wolfman just before the third period starts while
Sweet Home Alabama is blasting on the PA system.
(Note to those in charge of PA system: It's way too loud, especially for all the kids attending. Please lower the volume. Thanks!)
We have former UAH Chargers goalie Marc Narduzzi to thank for Riley's interest. He worked with Ryan at Huntsville Country Club before graduating, and he gave Riley a puck and one of his broken sticks, which was taped up and autographed by the team that went to the NCAA Championships.
For a long time, whenever we'd pass the Clinton Avenue exit, she'd talk about going to see Duzzi play hockey. Thanks, Duzzi, for helping Riley broaden her sports horizons!
