When I found out my daughter was deaf, her father took the news very hard. I knew we had to learn sign language to communicate with her. He didn't want to have anything to do with it. He learned very little sign language. He was not supportive and is out of our lives now. As for me coping with her hearing loss, I look at it as there is a reason why she was given to me with the hearing loss. I just do what I can for her. I try to teach her sign, take her to speech therapy, her follow up appointments with her surgeon for her implants, her audiologist appointments, and I love her just like I do my 3 other children that are hearing. I hope this helps.

How do you cope with accepting the hearing impairment of your child? Is your spouse supportive? I could use as much input as possible...
