So Logan has been having some problems with the Implant all of the sudden just shutting off, without even a warning. We first thought it might be the rechargeable batteries, so we tried the disposable ones, that wasn't problem. We then received an entirely new implant and that wasn't the problem either. I have tried talking to other moms at school or doing Internet research to see what could be causing the problem, but no information there either. So...has any of you other CI moms ever had this happen before? I'm afraid if the external part has been replaced and the problem still exists, then it may be internally!! Thanks for your help!
Yes!!! I have had this happen several times. Is there any chance Logan happens to have a Nucleus Freedom? The Freedom has a little trouble with the remote and processor staying connected in a way that keeps the power working. They are sometimes just loose enough to cause the power to go out without warning. It's not something you can fix, but contacting Cochlear will have a new remote and processor at your door overnight. It's totally covered under the warranty.
I have had that happen with my daughter's one implant. I called Cochlear (she has the Nucleus Freedom) and they sent out a replacement. They also told me that it sometimes is the cable (she has the babyworn model). They also sent me out the cable as well. Sometimes just changing the cable will do the trick.
