Yoga Pose May

Posted May 18 2010 8:40am

Tina and Kate are hosting a fun blogger movement called “ Yoga Pose May ”- today’s my day!!

Staff pose is a seated yoga pose intended to help with posture.  It can also help increase the flexibility of your hips & pelvis, & strengthen your lower back.

To achieve staff pose, sit on the floor with your back straight & legs stretched out straight in front of you. Keep your legs hip width apart.

If you hips are stiff, try sitting on a folder blanket at first.

Press your “sit bones” into the floor, and reach the crown of your head towards the ceiling. Think of lengthening your spine.

Flex your feet and push out through your heels.

Place your palms on the floor by the side of your hips, with your shoulders relaxed.

Hold the pose for 20-30 seconds.

Staff pose is a great starting point for other seated yoga poses.

Check out  a great collection of poses in the Yoga Pose May series!
