It’s always fun to hang out with like-minded people, and I’ve been lucky to find bloggers in the Chicago area who like to have healthy meet-ups that include exercise and vegetarian-friendly eats. Seriously, that sentence seems so simple, but it really is harder to make friends as an adult. Chicago is a huge drinking town, honestly winter is the season of drinking for many locals. But I’m not a huge drinker (and I’ve considered nixing alcohol from my life altogether), so I appreciate gals who like to keep it healthy too.
First we hit up a free community yoga class, something I haven’t experienced in this city despite being here 2 years. I was so excited to find a groovy little studio that the smelly neighbor and tighter quarters made me feel at home. After a 90 minute class we worked up quite an appetite and heading over to Native Foods aka my obsession. I’ve been a handful of times and always try to order something new. Hello Moroccan Lentil soup.
This soup is delicious and more brothy than traditional lentil soups, which I appreciated. When I was standing in line waiting to order, I kept waffling between menu items based on what I thought I should eat. Alexandria and I talked about honoring our cravings, lest you end up eating 3 times as much food to compensate. So, sweet potato fries and soup it was!
Lots of chatter ensued – everything from boyfriends, dating, running, food, siblings, puppies. These gals were good company, and I can’t wait for all of us to get together again!
