Wives and Weddings

Posted Aug 13 2013 12:02am

Hello hello, friends!

You know…I always have every intention of getting my weekend recap posts up on Monday…and, somehow, every week, that never happens.  Oh well.  Tuesday will have to do.  This past weekend was pretty busy and was packed with a couple of social engagements that I was happy to be a part of!

Saturday morning, I was invited to attend the first annual “Police Wives Luncheon” that was given by the wife of the police chief where Lee works.  In the eastern part of the United States, it is customary for the chief’s wife of any police department to have a get-together for all of the other wives/significant others of the other police officers.  While I knew I would have been invited if Lee and I were still just engaged, I was pretty excited to actually be there as a wife!  It’s been just over two months since we were married and I’m still pretty excited about it!

(some of the wives at our wedding)

The luncheon was held at Luigi’s, which is a small, local Italian restaurant.  After a quick introduction from Holly, the chief’s wife, we all went around the table and introduced ourselves, told which officer we belonged to, and shared a little piece of information about us and our families/lives.  I knew all of the wives but it was nice to learn something new about each one!  For lunch, we had the choice of getting a grilled chicken salad or a plate of penne pasta on our invitations and I chose the salad.  It was a very nice-sized salad with a hearty portion of seasoned grilled chicken.  We were also told that a cup of soup was offered with the salad as well and I chose the Pasta e Fagioli.  While it had a little more spice that I normally prefer, it was absolutely delicious and I was glad I made that choice!  After we were done eating, we were served pieces of cheesecake with fresh strawberries.  Yes, please!

As we were eating our dessert, Holly drew names for a drawing she had prepared with small gifts…and I won a spa basket!  It had a variety of bath salts, lotions, nail polishes, manicure tools, candles, and, the best ever, a foot massager!  I was so excited because I never win anything!!  Overall, it was a great experience and I was so happy that I was able to attend.  Police are such a tight group of individuals and it was nice to enjoy time with those women who stand behind their officers every day!

As soon as our luncheon was over, I dropped off my best “wife” friends, Megan and Natalie, and headed home to wake up Lee because we had a wedding to attend.  Lee’s childhood friend, Chris, was getting married and we were invited to attend the evening reception.  It was held at a local hotel where we have attended a few weddings in the past.  The food is always delicious and we knew there were going to be a couple of our friends there so we were excited to go!

For dinner, we had the choice of a beef dish or chicken marsala (which I got), red-skinned parsley potatoes, green beans with almonds, and a salad.  Oh…and also bread and rolls…which is always the best part, right!?  Everything was delicious and very flavorful!  We spent the few hours after dinner socializing and dancing and, when the wedding came to an end, Lee and I headed out with our friends to grab a few more drinks.  We had a great time and were so happy we were able to share Chris and Jen’s special day with them!

(somehow, my husband always finds a microphone!)

After my busy Saturday, Sunday was spent at home with Lee (who was actually off!) doing adult house things like cleaning, organizing, and just chilling.  It was the perfect ending to such a fun weekend!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

With much Love and Laughter,

Something to share:  Have you been to or been in a wedding recently?  Anything exciting happen this past weekend for you?
