Recently, a company called iHerb contacted me, asking if I would like a $50 shopping spree for myself and a $50 shopping spree for one of my readers. Um, yes please!
I’d actually never heard of iHerb before, but I soon found out that they are an online reseller that carries close to 20,000 natural products, including vitamins, herbal supplements (vegan, vegetarian, raw, gluten free), cosmetic/skincare products, and, my favorite – over 1,000 grocery items (many of them organic)! This site is awesome if you’ve been having trouble finding things like brown rice syrup, chia seeds, whole wheat pastry flour, and the like locally. They have it all – it’s like an online Whole Foods or something! Sweet Plus, they offer free shipping for orders over $40 and their website is super simple and easy to navigate.
With my $50 shopping spree, I purchased the following goodies:
I’m excited because nutritional yeast, hemp seeds, and coconut oil are called for in a number of the awesome looking recipes in this book by Brendan Brazier .
It’s called Thrive: The Vegan Nutrition Guide to Optimal Performance in Sports and Life . Clearly I’m far from vegan, but I’m a big fan of vegan and vegetarian recipes and it’s always fun to mix things up and try cooking with ingredients you don’t know as well. If you’re looking for some new super healthy recipes and a very interesting read (he goes into a lot of detail about which foods are good for you and why, nutritionally), I’d highly recommend this book. It even includes a 12-week meal plan and over 100 allergen-free recipes with raw food options. Cool!
