Where Have I Been Lately?

Well, if anyone is still out there, you can clearly see that I’ve been taking a bit of a break from the blogging world.  I honestly don’t know what happened.  I guess I just felt that I needed a break for a bit.  Everything in the blogging world was starting to take over my life and it was definitely causing tension between me and the Boy.  Not to mention the fact that I’ve been neglecting my walk with the Lord. 

I can always tell when I’m slipping away, and falling back into my old ways.  It happens ever so subtly.  Sometimes I don’t even notice it until I’m so far gone I need a slap in the face!  Ok, maybe not a literal slap.  But you know what I mean.  I think the only real way to get your perspective back is to take a step back.  I had to pull myself away from the computer and re-prioritize the important things in my life. 

So, what have I been up to lately?  Not much actually.  Perhaps part of the reason I haven’t been blogging is simply because I really haven’t had too much to blog about.  There hasn’t been too much exciting news to share.  I haven’t gone anywhere recently or done anything out of the ordinary. 

The one thing I have been doing is working on organizing my life and learning to save money.  I guess I had a wake up call when I took a good hard look at my finances and realized that I really need to start saving some moolah!  I’ve been doing all sorts of reading on how to save money at the grocery store using coupons.  And I recently found a few great websites geared toward saving money and taking care of a family .  That second one is definitely something I need to practice if I want to run a successful home in the future!

As far as my training is concerned, well…. it hasn’t been going so well lately.  :(    I’ve been seriously lacking in the motivation department.  Not to mention the fact that I’ve been having issues with my right ankle.  I haven’t been able to move past the 3 mile mark.  I’ve been needing a bit more recovery time between runs in order to let my ankle rest.  I’m thinking of getting a brace, but I’m not sure it’ll even help. 

This is definitely bad news given that I’m supposed to be running a 10k in about 4 weeks!!  Luckily, I’ve already contacted the race organizers and they are willing to let me defer my registration to a later race.  So, now I have a decision to make.  Do I want to run a 10k on September 24th?  Or try for a half-marathon on October 9th?  What do you think?  I need help in making this decision!!  :)

I hope that with a fresh look at things I’ll be back with some fun posts and fresh recipes!  And yes, I’m trying out a new blog design too.  What can I say, I can get quite bored with things!
